Free photo offer- again

This is a photo of my nephew taken earlier today as we wandered from the Cross Bones gates in Southwark to Waterloo station. The photo itself was taken at a sort of skate park by the National Theatre.

If you live in London or in Essex (but within easy reach of Romford) and would like a free portrait, then contact me at so we can arrange a photo session. I will be happy to send you jpeg prints by email. There is only one condition - that I can use suitable photos on my website. I will not reveal your name if you do not wish me to do so.

flaek kaalen hi

Almost two years ago, German footwear flaek kicked off a new initiative in hopes of creating a crowdsourced sneaker brand. After much work and deliberation, the brand’s inaugural model, the kaalen hi, is available now. The minimalistic high-top is handmade with the added benefit of having a plethora of sizing options including 15 sizes spread over 4 widths. With this in mind, customers are given the ability to customize sizing relative to differences in fit between the left and right foot. The sneaker is available to start with shipping to Germany, Austria and Switzerland with a retail price of €280 EUR (approximately $396 USD) for a uniform pair (same size for both feet) or €340 EUR (approximately $481 USD) for differential sizing. Available through and 43einhalb.

New R8 Limited Edition celebrates 10 Le Mans victories for Audi

Audi has worked up a special edition version of the company's R8 to commemorate the German automaker's victories at Le Mans. Powered by the same 430 horsepower, 4.2-liter V8 found in the base coupe, the R8 V8 Limited Edition models are available with special titanium-effect paint with titanium-toned wheels to match. Those rollers are 19-inch double Y-spoke bits that were crafted in the spitting image of the hardware found on the R8 GT Coupe. Buyers can also expect to find a set of red brake calipers tucked behind the wheels. All of the company's standard metallic and pearl effect paint options will also be available on the commemorative cars.

Inside, the R8 V8 Limited Edition comes with satellite navigation and Audi Music Interface with a Bang and Olufsen sound system as well as a unique interior lighting package and Bluetooth hands-free calling. Prices start at £93,935 in the UK. That figure translates to around $150,000 (including Britain's costly Value Added Tax), though there's no clear indication as to whether or not any of the 100 examples will make their way to the States or how much Audi will ask U.S. buyers to pay.

Southern California - the birthplace of famous hamburgers from McDonald's, Carl's Jr., and In-n-Out Burger - is home to another thriving burger chain that opened its first outlet in 1952. Lovie Yancey thought of the perfect name for the 1/3-pound burgers she sold at her Los Angeles burger joint: Fatburger. Now with over 41 units in California, Nevada, and moving into Washington and Arizona, Fatburger has become the food critics' favorite, winning "best burger in town" honors with regularity. The secret is the seasoned salt used on a big 'ol lean beef patty. And there's no
ketchup on the stock version, just mayo, mustard, and relish. Replace the ground beef with ground turkey and you've got Fatburger's Turkey burger all up and cloned.

    1/3 pound lean ground beef
    seasoned salt
    ground black pepper
    1 plain hamburger bun
    1/2 tablespoon mayonnaise
    1/4 cup chopped iceberg lettuce
    1 tomato slice
    1/2 tablespoon mustard
    1/2 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
    1 tablespoon chopped onion
3 dill pickle slices (hamburger slices)

    1 slice American cheese
Grill the unsuspecting beef patty in a hot frying pan.
Slap the hot side and the cold side together.

    1. Form the ground beef into a patty that is about 1 inch wider
than the circumference of the hamburger bun.
    2. Preheat a non-stick frying pan to medium/high heat. Fry the
patty in the pan for 3 to 4 minutes per side or until done. Season
both sides of the beef with seasoned salt and ground black pepper.
    3. As the meat cooks prepare the bun by spreading approximately 1/2
tablespoon of mayonnaise on the face of the top bun.

    4. Place the lettuce on the mayonnaise, followed by the tomato slice.
    5. When the beef is done place the patty on the bottom bun.
    6. Spread about 1/2 tablespoon of mustard over the top of the beef
    7. Spoon about 1/2 tablespoon of relish over the mustard.
    8. Sprinkle the chopped onion onto the relish.
    9. Arrange the pickles on the chopped onion.
    10. Bring the two halves of the burger together and serve with
    Makes 1 burger.

If you want cheese on your burger, put a slice of American cheese
on the face of the bottom bun before adding the beef patty. The
heat from the meat will melt the cheese.Source URL:

Do or don't: Pale skin this summer

As summer approaches, I usually get a little shy about wearing shorts and exposing my so-white-they're-almost-blue legs. When I was in college, I even went fake tanning (yikes!) and slathered on orange self-tanner (not a good look).

But this summer, I've decided to embrace my pale skin and freckles. We've recently discovered a few great natural, chemical-free sunscreens: Badger, Dr. Robin and the Babo Botanicals stick (which is super easy to apply on babies!), and wear them everyday.

My darlings, this summer, will you rock the pale look? Would you prefer to get a tan? Have your feelings on tanning changed? What kind of sunscreen do you use? I'd love to hear...
